Lot 354
KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 4.31 g, 12 h), Teos, struck under Antigonos I Monophthalmos, circa 310-301. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔ[POY] Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; in field to left, monogram. Cf. Price 2299. Struck slightly off center, obscuring the controls, otherwise, very fine.

From a European collection, formed before 2005.

The control marks on this coin are unclear, but the style of Herakles is undoubtedly from Teos. The only drachm from Teos that seems to fit with the tiny bit of the monogram that is visible is Price 2299.
